Establishment of Uehiro Research Division for Global Japanese Studies

On October 1, 2024, the International Research Center for Japanese Studies (Nichibunken) announced the establishment of the Uehiro Research Division for Global Japanese Studies, funded by a generous donation from the Uehiro Foundation on Ethics and Education.

The new division aims to cultivate and support the next generation of international scholars specializing in Japanese studies while pursuing three core objectives: advancing the globalization of Japanese studies both domestically and internationally; fostering cross-generational academic dialogue by balancing mentorship for early-career researchers with the incorporation of their fresh perspectives; and developing innovative approaches to Japanese studies through globally inclusive practices.
